Bitcoin treasuries added approximately 43,200 BTC in January, or 41,200 BTC net after sales — worth an estimated $3.3 billion at month-end prices.
This approaches the level of Bitcoin buying seen in August and September 2025, but with one critical difference: January 2026 buying was dominated by Strategy (MSTR), which accounted for up to 98% of sector-wide additions this month.

August and September presented the opposite situation. Numerous companies accounted for the majority of the buying, while Strategy bought only a fraction of the total. As such, January does not point to industry-wide growth, but rather Strategy’s renewed buying efforts.
Top additions this month:
Strategy bought 40,150 BTC across its weekly purchases — its largest monthly growth since the end of 2024 and its third straight month dominating sector-wide additions
American Bitcoin added 745 BTC, reporting a BTC Yield of ~116% since going public
DDC Enterprise added 600 BTC to its holdings
Cango added 562.3 BTC through its mining operations
Strive added 558.75 BTC to its holdings over multiple disclosures — not including its acquisition of Semler Scientific and its 5,048.07 BTC
Privately owned fast food chain Steak ‘n’ Shake added 161.55 BTC and announced Bitcoin bonuses for its employees. Steak 'n' Shake also marked our top new listing this month.
